Army Chief apprises PM on security situation

New Delhi: Hours before the crucial meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to decide India's participation in the peace force in Iraq, Army chief N C Vij on May 26 briefed Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on the security situation.

At the hour-long meeting, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where Army has undertaken a massive anti-insurgency drive christened 'Operation Sarp Vinash' in Surankote area of Rajauri district of Jammu and Kashmir, also came up.

Intelligence Chiefs also accompanied Vij in the meeting.
