'India, Germany hope talks will solve Iran issue'
Wednesday, May 28 2003 21:14 Hrs (IST)
Berlin: Amidst growing US threats to Iran over the situation in Iraq, India and Germany on May 28 hoped
that all issues in Iran would be resolved through dialogue and that it will not lead to anything more
serious.
The recent developments in Iran came up in the discussions the two sides had during the ongoing visit
of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and it was noticed that they have caused some concern, External
Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha told reporters while briefing them on the parleys between Vajpayee and
Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and other German leaders.
"India and Germany hope that whatever the issue in Iran, it will be resolved through dialogue and it will
not lead to anything more serious," Sinha said in reply to a question on the emerging situation in Iran.
He said the Indian side got the sense that Germany was not going to participate in the stabilisation force
in Iraq.
