JMM (S) bandh hit normal life in Ranchi
Wednesday, May 28 2003 11:00 Hrs (IST)

Ranchi: A Ranchi bandh call has been given by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Sibu Soren on May 28 to protest alleged police high-handedness during May 27 Jharkhand bandh.

"We have called an instant bandh as the Arjun Munda government used bullets to conduct the teachers' recruitment test and for giving 'outsiders' a chance to snatch class three and four jobs from Adivasis and Moolvasis", Soren said.

Most of the shops were closed while only a few vehicles were seen moving on the roads in the state capital on May 28.

Two persons were killed and over 20 persons, including 12 policemen, were injured on the second day of the 48-hr Jharkhand bandh called by the five party Jharkhand Front in protest against the controversial teachers recruitment test on May 27.

Stating that the former Marandi government used force during 2002 July 24 bandh that claimed five lives, the tribal leader said "We are not demanding class one and two jobs and do not want to deprive others in businesses. The government should at least realise our sentiment".

"Sepoys and teachers, he said, are class three and four jobs and adivasis and moolvasis should get an opportunity."
