Patna gears up for President's visit

Patna: Amid tight security, President A P J Abdul Kalam arrives on May 29, on a three-day visit of Bihar.
During his visit, the President would lay the foundation stone for the construction of rail coach
maintenance workshop at Harnaut in Barh Parliamentary constituency of Railway minister Nitish Kumar
and dedicate to the nation the newly electrified Patna-Gaya route by flagging off a mainline electrical
multiple unit (MEMU) train at Patna junction on
May 30.
The President is scheduled to attend a string of functions during his visit including an interaction with
school children and legislators.
He would address a joint function of the Bihar Industries Association and Confederation Of Indian
Industries (CII) and attend the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and
deliver T P Memorial lecture.
Kalam will also visit Jain shrine at Pawapuri, archaeological site of the ancient Nalanda university,
Mahabodhi temple, the most sacred of Buddhist shrines at Bodh Gaya, Takh Harmandir Sahib and Bihar
school of yoga at Munger.
According to official sources, massive security arrangements have been made for President's visit with
additional police contingents rushed to Patna, Nalanda, Munger and Gaya districts to maintain law and
order.
