Kalam calls on youth to dream big, be inquisitive

Pune: Big dreams, aims and inquisitiveness can propel youth to success, President A P J Abdul Kalam
said on May 28.
Addressing a function at Sir J C Bose Science Forum at Pune University, Kalam said the youth of today
possess immense potential, which if encouraged properly, can produce miraculous results.
Expressing optimism that India will emerge as a great prosperous nation by year 2020, the President
said inquisitiveness is the mother of invention and discovery.
Stating that today's youth have made tremendous contribution in the field of Information Technology, he
said this sector contributes exports to the tune of $ 10 billion and in future it is likely to shoot upto $ 100
billion.
He said India has made good progress in the field of technology and today the country has the capacity
to produce all types of rockets and satellites.
The Pokhran test in 1998, production of missile on April 19, 1999 and launch of Polar Satellite Launch
Vehicle on May 26, 1999 are the three major landmarks for the country, he added.
Stating that India has made immense progress in the field of nuclear technology, the President said it
was being used mainly for power generation and health care.
Kalam also stressed the need to give more thrust on agriculture, health and education and also called
for maintaining the ecological balance.
