Another train inferno in Punjab, no casualty
Wednesday, May 28 2003 19:26 Hrs (IST)

Ferozepur: Around 400 passengers of a local train had a miraculous escape on May 28 when the engine and three of its six bogies caught fire near here barely 13 days after a similar blaze in Frontier Mail, which killed 38 people.

The fire broke out in the engine of the Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) soon after the train left Jalalabad railway station after a brief halt, railway and administrative officials said.

The driver stopped the train on noticing the fire and all passengers managed to jump out before the engine and three adjoining bogies were gutted, they said.

However, no one was injured in the accident, the officials said.
