Shilpa Shetty's mother granted anticipatory bail

Mumbai: Sunanda Shetty, mother of film actress Shilpa Shetty, and an accused in an extortion case, was on May 29 granted anticipatory bail till June 12 by a session’s court.

Sessions judge Hemant Deshpande granted the bail for a sum Rs 40,000.

The judge also granted bail to Bhupendra Singh Sachdev, secretary of Shilpa Shetty.

Both have been asked to appear before a court in Surat on June 12 and seek bail from a regular court.

The duo are facing charges of extorting money from an industrialist payable to the actress for modelling in an ad film.

The case has been registered by police in Gujarat.
