1 killed, 18 injured as Magadh express derails

Buxar (Bihar): One passenger died and at least 18 others were injured as 14 coaches of 2391 (up)
Patna-New Delhi Magadh Vikramshila Express derailed in Baruna-Barasia section of Danapur division
near Buxar station in the wee hours of June 1, railway and hospital sources said.
One person succumbed to his injuries in the Buxar Sadar hospital immediately after being admitted
along with 18 others, hospital sources said adding the condition of another person was also serious.
The name of the victim was still not known, they said.
The mishap took place around 3:40 a m, East Central Railway (ECR) chief spokesman A K Chandra told
reporters.
ECR General Manager R S Varshney, Danapur Division Railway Manager (DRM) P K Goel along with
Senior Divisional Commercial Officer Neeraj Ambastha have reached the accident site to supervise relief
operation.
A special relief train with doctors, technicians and others has left Danapur for Buxar, he said adding
relief van has also been rushed from Mughalsarai.
The cause of the derailment was still not known.
The train had altogether 24 coaches of which 14 derailed. The coaches that derailed were joined from
Patna to the other 10 coaches from Bhagalpur, he said.
The daily train which leaves around 8 pm from Patna was rescheduled last night and left Patna junction
around 11:30 pm as the DN Magadh train had come here late, sources at Patna railway junction said.
Train services remained affected in the Mughalsarai-Patna section and many up and down trains have
been re-routed.
