India ready to resume bus-service to Pak from July
Tuesday, June 3 2003 19:33 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: India is ready to resume Delhi-Lahore bus service from July 1, provided everything goes according to schedule, official sources said in New Delhi on June 3.

A decision to this effect was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting convened by the external affairs ministry, the sources said.

The sources, however, said Pakistan has to agree to the schedule before the service could be resumed.

They said while India is ready, several issues including those related to logistics, visa and immigration facilities, customs and security aspects would have to be sorted out before the bus journey started.

A meeting with Pakistani authorities would have to take place before the service could be restarted.

The service was stopped after the December 13 2001, terrorist attack on Indian Parliament.
