Security forces smash militant hideout; four killed

Srinagar: Two militants and a counter-insurgent associated with Ikhwan were among four persons killed
in separate incidents in Kashmir Valley, where security forces arrested a militant and smashed a
hideout, a police spokesman said on June 3.
Two unidentified heavily armed militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Shala Buthoo
near the line of control (LoC) in Kupwara district of North Kashmir on June 2 night, the spokesman said.
He said an AK assault rifle, a pistol, five hand grenades, five rockets and some ammunition were
recovered from the slain militants who were believed to have sneaked into the Valley from across the
border and took shelter in forest.
A counter-insurgent Mushtaq Ahmad Malik was killed when militants attacked an Ikhwan camp at village
Devsar in Kulgam area of Anantnag district in South Kashmir early on June 3, the spokesman said.
He said police recovered body of one Mohammad Qasim Bimla from Ahlan Gadool in Kokernag area of
Anantnag on June 3. The cause of his death is being ascertained, the spokesman added.
Security forces apprehended a militant along with three grenades from Allora-Zainapora in Pulwama
district, he said.
The spokesman said security forces also busted a hideout a Kanser forest in Aloosa area of Bandipora
in Baramulla district and recovered 10 kgs of RDX, two remote control devices and three hand grenades
from it.
