Wednesday, June 4 2003 14:50 Hrs (IST)
Bangalore: The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) is organising an interactive meeting of
exporters with ambassadors of commonwealth of independent states (CIS) countries in Bangalore during
July or August to explore export opportunities for Indian business.
Delivering the presidential address at an interactive meeting of exporters with commercial
representatives of Indian mission for West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region FIEO president M
Rafeeque Ahmed on June 4 said that four Ambassadors of CIS countries had confirmed their
participation for the meet.
"The interaction is to explore business opportunities in those countries, besides knowing their policies,"
Ahmed said.
On WANA region, which accounts for 14 per cent of India's total exports, Ahmed said the main problems
that exporters face in these countries is the lack of knowledge about the countries themselves and also
our hesitation to
venture into these areas.
He said the 19 countries in the WANA region offered enormous pportunities to increase India's exports.
