All taluk hq in K'taka will be provided with WiLL

Hubli: K Padmanabhan, chief general manager of telecom, Karnataka circle Bangalore on June 5 said all 175 taluka headquarters will be provided Wireless in Local Loop (WiLL) facilities in the Karnataka state soon and call centre in Bangalore will be commissioned on June 15, 2003.

Padmanabhan told a press conference that plans are afoot to provide further expansion of Bangalore CDMA WLL for better coverage and an additional 20,000 lines in the capital, he said.

Laying of optical fibre cable (OFC) in the network of 1,400 kms have been taken up and the work is in progress, he said.

He said broadband services like high speed Internet, video on demand, games, content distribution will be provided in major cities during the 2003-2004.

He said expansion of National Internet Backbone (NIB) to provide best of services including web hosting, web location and Internet data centres.

He said expansion of MPLS based IP network to cover more cities for quick provisioning of cheap, reliable and secure bandwidth with service level agreement (SLA).

Protective offerings in all district headquarters to have total fault free services, in the state, he said.
