Thursday, June 5 2003 22:20 Hrs (IST)

Patna: In a major effort to check criminal-police nexus, the officer-in-charge of a Patna police station and two other policemen were suspended on June 5 for being on" pay-roll of criminals".

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Patna range, Ravindra Kumar on June 5 ordered suspension of officer-in-charge of Jakkanpur police station Raj Kumar Sinha after a departmental inquiry confirmed that he was illegally accepting bribe from criminals.

A sub-inspector and a constable of the same police station were also put under suspension by the Senior Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar on the same charge.

The DIG said that a departmental inquiry had been ordered against the policemen following a confessional statement of a notorious criminal Pintoo Singh that he was regularly paying money to them.
