Ahmedabad: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Jagdish Tiwari on June 6 identified Hyderabad-based
sharpshooter Asghar Ali as the man who tried to shoot at him from close range earlier this year, court
sources said.
Ali, the man who pulled the trigger on former Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya, was identified as the
person who fired at Tiwari in his medical store in Bapunagar area of the city, in an identification parade,
sources said.
Earlier, Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) officials headed by inspector Sushil Gupta brought in the
accused along with 10 dummy's amidst tight security at the court of an Executive Magistrate, sources
said.
Tiwari took about 10 minutes to identify Ali as the person who fired at him from close range.
The sharp shooter was earlier also subjected to identification parade and identified as Pandya's
assassin by a stall vendor, who operates from just outside the Law garden, where Pandya was gunned
down on March 26.
