BJP describes leadership issue as a closed chapter
Friday, June 6 2003 22:26 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Declining to comment on Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Murli Manohar Joshi's statement that the party had not taken any decision to project Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee as 'Vikas Purush' (man of development), Bharatiya Janata Party on June 6 categorically stated that the leadership controversy is a "closed chapter."

"The Chapter is closed. Party has clarified its stand on the issue in very clear and categorical terms. There is no scope for any more comments or clarification on this issue," party general secretary and spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu had categorically stated on June 5 that there was no confusion at any level within the party on the leadership issue and Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee remained the party's unquestioned leader."
