New Delhi: Conditions are becoming favourable for the advance of South West monsoon towards
Kerala, even as the Bay of Bengal branch of the monsoon covered some more parts in the North East,
Meteorological Department said on June 6.
The South West monsoon is likely to hit Kerala between June 8 and 10, providing much-needed respite
to the peninsular India reeling under intense heat wave conditions, Meteorological Department officials
said.
The Bay of Bengal branch of the South West monsoon has advanced further to parts of North East India
covering Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Eastern parts of Assam, they said.
Monsoon had hit North East on June 5, officials said, adding the onset of monsoon in this part of the
country first is not unusual and it had happened on a few occasions in the past.
At times the monsoon had hit both Kerala and North East simultaneously, they said.
