No leadership crisis in BJP, says Venkaiah Naidu

Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Venkaiah Naidu on June 6 asserted there was no
leadership crisis in the BJP and the party wanted Atal Behari Vajpayee to continue as the Prime
Minister.
Pointing out that there was no difference of opinion within the party in this regard, Naidu
said, "Vajpayee is our Prime Minister and every one is supporting him."
The BJP president who made a brief stopover at the NSC Bose international airport in Kolkata on way to
Guwahati said the media had blown out of proportion statements made by the Prime Minister.
"Media spinned the story and people enjoyed it," he said.
The Prime Minister's remark on June 4 that Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani would lead the party to
victory had created a flutter in political circles.
The BJP president had said in New Delhi on June 5 that the next general elections would be fought in
the name of Vajpayee and the performance of his government.
BJP state unit presidents of the North Eastern states are meeting at a conference at Dibrugarh to chalk
out the party's expansion plans in the region.
