'We can make friends of our choice not neighbours'
Friday, June 6 2003 18:37 Hrs (IST)
Nirmali (Bihar): Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on June 6 asked Pakistan to stop cross border
terrorism before any fruitful dialogue could be resumed between New Delhi and Islamabad.
''Terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir have come down marginally over the last few months, but for any
dialogue to be fruitful Pakistan will have to completely remove the sword of terrorism,'' Vajpayee said
addressing a public meeting here after laying the foundation stone for the mega rail bridge over the
river Kosi in Supaul district.
Referring to his fresh peace initiative with Pakistan, Vajpayee said, ''It reflects our sincerity of purpose.
We want to narrow the distance with our neighbour.''
The Prime Minister further said, ''We have fought three wars and both the countries should realise that
nothing can be achieved through war.''
''We can make friends of our choice not neighbours,'' he said.
