Prince Harry to join the Army, train at Sandhurst

London: Prince Harry is all set to join the Welsh Guards and will train at Sandhurst alongside his best
mate James Frere-Scott after the 18-year-olds made a pact, 'The Sun' has reported.
Harry and James, who have spent six years boarding together at Eton, revealed their intentions this
week when they signed the Leaver's book in keeping with college tradition, which contains names and
signatures of departing pupils, together with a blank space for them to write in where they intend to
study next. Both Harry and James wrote simply "Sandhurst" before the headmaster wished them good
luck, says the report.
An Eton source said, "Everyone has been talking about whether or not Harry will join the Army, but this
is the first time he has spelled it out. What swayed it was James saying he'd join up as an officer with
him. Basically they agreed that if one went to Sandhurst, so would the other."
Harry excelled in Eton's cadet force, and Prince Charles watched with pride as he commanded the
Guard of Honour at the college's annual tattoo.
Both Harry and James, however, plan to take a year's gap before going to Sandhurst. The Royal Military
Academy in Surrey puts officer cadets through a 44-week training course to turn them into
commissioned Army officers.
So watch out! You might just catch the young prince standing guard over his grandmother, the Queen,
during ceremonial duties.
