India determined to win war against Pak : Advani
Monday, June 9 2003 11:45 Hrs (IST)

Washington: Observing that September 11 terror strike in US demonstrated that distance is no consideration when terrorists decide to strike, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said India will win the battle against terrorism emanating from Pakistan just as it won three wars waged by that country earlier.

"It (the war against terrorism) is not like World War I or World War II or the three wars India had to fight earlier. This is a new type of war. India has been fighting this war for the last two decades but the rest of the world did not take much notice until 9/11 when terrorists struck at the United States", Advani said.

Without naming Pakistan, Advani said he has no doubt that those who are waging this war using terrorists against India will lose it just as they lost the three wars earlier.

Addressing the Indian community on June 8, the Deputy Prime Minister, who is on a ten-day visit to US, said, "Just as the terrorists' strike against the US in September 2001 caught world's attention, so did the attack on the Indian Parliament".

"No one knows when they (Pakistani terrorists) will strike, where they will strike, and where their leader or leaders are hiding. This war can only be fought and won with determination, and India has that determination", Advani said.
