Monday, June 9 2003 17:28 Hrs (IST)

Ahmedabad: A local court on June 9 remanded to judicial custody three "ISI" (Inter Service Intelligence) agents, allegedly involved in the murder of former Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya.

Mohammad Yunus Sareshwala, Mohammad Pervez Sheikh and Mohammad Riaz alias Goru were produced in the chief metropolitan's court by the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) that is probing Pandya's murder, after their seven-day remand expired on June 9.

The CBI has already slapped POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) against all 12 persons including the ISI agents, three locals, Hyderabad-based sharpshooter Asghar Ali and his four accomplices, in the Pandya murder case.

The ISI agents were arrested by the Ahmedabad crime branch from Parimal garden area on April 4 and investigations revealed they had aided the prime accused Ali, who pumped five bullets into Pandya at Law Garden on March 26.

Earlier, another ISI agent Rehan Abdul Majid Punthawala was sent to judicial custody on June 7.
