Bangalore: A pro-Kannada organisation on June 9 burnt an effigy of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N
Chandrababu Naidu to protest the neighbouring state's opposition to the Paragodu project in Kolar
district.
Activists of "Kannada Vedike" assembled near Mysore bank circle in the heart of the city and gave vent
to their anger on Andhra Pradesh's insistence that Karnataka stop constructing the barrage across the
Chitravathi river, which also flows to Andhra Pradesh.
Led by its President and former MLA, Prabhakar Reddy they shouted anti-Andhra Pradesh slogans.
Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are locked in a fierce battle over the project on the border district. While
Karnataka has categorically said it's meant to meet drinking water requirements, Andhra Pradesh
alleged that it's for irrigation purpose. Both the states have refused to budge from their position.
