HuJI militant killed, another from Hizb surrenders

Srinagar: A militant belonging to Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islam (HuJI) was killed, while a Hizbul Mujahideen ultra
was arrested and another surrendered in Kashmir Valley, officials said on June 10.
The HuJI militant identified as Abdul Aziz, a resident of Rajouri, was killed in an encounter with Army at
Arah forest in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on June 9 night, a Defence spokesman said.
An AK assault rifle, four magazines, four hand grenades and a wireless set were recovered from the
deceased militant.
The spokesman said Army troops apprehended a Hizbul Mujahideen militant Manzoor Ahmad Malik from
Pattan area of Baramulla district. Four hand grenades and two kgs of explosives were recovered from
him.
Another Hizbul Mujahideen militant Mohammad Shafi Sheikh surrendered before security forces at
Wusan on the outskirts of Srinagar on June 10. He handed over a pistol, its one magazine and eight
rounds of ammunition, the spokesman said.
Militants shot at and injured a woman Mehmooda, an employee in the agriculture department, at her
house at Rajpora in Pulwama on June 9 night.
A farmer was injured when he was hit by a stray bullet at Panzla in Baramulla district of North Kashmir,
the sources said.
Ghulam Rasool was working in his field when he was hit by a stray bullet from a nearby firing range.
