Summons served on Karunanidhi's daughter-in-law

Chennai: Madurai district police on June 11 served summons on the wife of M K Azhagiri, son of DMK
(Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) Chief M Karunanidhi, directing her to be present at her Madurai
residence on June 13 when police have proposed to search the place in connection with murder of
former DMK minister T Kiruttinan.
The summons were served on Gandimathi, who is staying at the Gopalpuram residence of Karunanidhi
along with her children since the arrest of her husband, allegedly involved in the murder of the former
minister on May 20, police said.
On June 9, the sixth Judicial Magistrate Madurai K Vanitha had issued permission to the police to search
the residence of Azhagiri in the presence of his wife and a revenue officer not below the rank of
Tehsildar.
Azhagiri was accused of being involved in the conspiracy, which resulted in the murder of Kiruttinan, at
Azhagappan Nagar in Madurai.
The summons was served by inspector Muthu Sankaralingam in the presence of an advocate, police
said.
