New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on June 11 said the latest excavations carried out by the
Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Ayodhya cannot be the basis of reaching any definite conclusion
on whether a temple or a mosque existed at the site beneath the demolished structure.
"There have been various reports and in the light of these one cannot ignore reports of Tojo Vikas
International Ltd," party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters.
The Tojo report had said there seemed o be such evidence, of pillars and like structures, seemingly
from structures beneath and pre-dating the 16th century mosque.
Naqvi said there was also need to appreciate the efforts by various groups who were keen on resolving
the Ayodhya issue at the earliest.
He said one cannot overlook the efforts of organisations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to resolve
the problem.
