S Narayan is the new secretary in PMO

New Delhi: Finance Secretary S Narayan has been appointed secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), official sources said on June 11.

An order to this effect was issued on June 10 night by the PMO, they said.

Narayan will retire on June 30 and is expected to take up the new assignment after that, the sources said.

An IAS officer of 1965 batch from Tamil Nadu cadre, Narayan is an economist with an M.Phil from Cambridge University.

Expenditure secretary D C Gupta is tipped to succeed Narayan in the Finance Ministry, the sources said.
