Jaipur: Keeping away from the controversy over his recent remarks in Delhi on Ayodhya imbroglio,
Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati kept a stunning silence over the issue while attending
several functions.
The seer did not utter a single word on Ayodhya tangle at his felicitation function at Kukas, some 30 kms
from Jaipur, on June 10.
He refused to comment even as swami Pragyanand Saraswati, in-charge of Sanatam Dharm Abhiyan,
sought seer's guidance on the ticklish Ram Janambhoomi issue at the function.
Shankaracharya, instead, spoke on the need to spread vedic knowledge and moral education. His
peeth, he said, would expand its humanitarian work, including setting up of a school for vedas and
hostels for students in tribal areas in Rajasthan.
On June 8, the seer told a function in Delhi, held in connection with Golden Jubilee celebrations of his
ascension to the throne of Kanchi Mutt, that a joint appeal on behalf of Hindus and Muslims to politicians
to keep away from Ayodhya tangle might be ready in a month.
He also said the Muslim religious leaders were keen for a solution to the Ayodhya issue and the
community was prepared to handover the disputed site in Ayodhya to Hindu religious heads but not to
political organisations.
