9 Pak militants killed in JK, gun fight still on

Srinagar: Nine Pakistani militants, including a "battalion commander" of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT), were
killed in overnight operations as Army foiled an infiltration bid in North Kashmir, where ultras killed a
father-son duo by slitting their throats on June 12, official sources said.
The infiltration bid was scuttled by the troops when they gunned down four militants trying to sneak in
from across the border at Ram Wali Gali in Kalaroos sector of Kupwara on June 11, the sources said.
The operation was still continuing, they said.
In another major encounter, Rashtriya Rifles troops killed four al-Badr militants at Safalpora in Langate
area of Kupwara early on June 12.
The gun-battle broke out on June 11, when the troops confronted the militants hiding in the area, the
sources said, adding two AK assault rifles, eight magazines, a rocket launcher with two rockets, a pistol,
two wireless sets, five grenades and some ammunition were recovered from the slain
militants.
Security forces killed a battalion commander of LeT Abdul Wahid Atak during search operations at
Nathnoosa and recovered an AK assault rifle, two magazines, 50 rounds and four hand grenades from
him, the sources said.
They said a group of unidentified militants killed two Gujjars, Haji Mitha Kari and his son Mohammad
Yyub, by slitting their throats at village Pazalpora in Bandipora area of Baramulla district early on June
12.
The victims, who were camping in the area, hailed from Rajouri.
