Togadia seeks legislation for Ram Temple in Ayodhya
Thursday, June 12 2003 22:02 Hrs (IST)

Dhanbad: Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) international general secretary Pravin Togadia on June 12 sought framing of legislation by Parliament to declare Ayodhya as the birth place (Ram Janmabhoomi) of Lord Ram to facilitate the construction of a temple there.

Talking to reporters, Togadia asked, "When a law can be framed to appease the Muslims after a Supreme Court verdict, can't another legislation be enacted to honour the sentiments of 98 crore Hindus who believe that Ram Lalla was born in Ayodhya?"

VHP activists would begin to move into villages in July and August to motivate around two crore people for beginning an agitation in this regard, Togadia added.

The VHP would also launch a signature drive to demand a legislation by Parliament for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Togadia said.

He was on his way to Giridh to preside over a function being held to distribute tridents amongst VHP activists.
