Police station attacked at Pathri in M'rashtra

Mumbai: A mob of nearly 200 persons, believed to be Shiv Sainiks, ransacked a police station at Pathri
village in Parbhani district of Maharashtra after a clash between two groups on June 12, official sources
said in Mumbai.
The mob stormed into the local police station and broke glass panes, wooden furniture and manhandled
police personnel there leading to tension in the village, the sources said.
Pathri is nearly 60 kms away from Parbhani district of Marathwada region.
The incident occurred when deputy chairman of the panchayat samiti, Pappu Ghatge accidentally
pushed a bystander in the bus stand area while parking his two-wheeler, sources said.
Thursday (June 12) being a market day, villagers from nearby places come to Pathri and soon a large
mob, mostly believed to be Shiv Sainiks gathered in the area.
The matter reached the police station and the mob went berserk after finding that not a senior police
official was present on the occasion, sources added.
Nearby shops in the area were damaged in the stone pelting incidents, sources said adding that senior
police and district administration officials have reached the spot and
situation was "tense but under control".
