Pope has "no business to comment on our law"
Friday, June 13 2003 14:36 Hrs (IST)
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on June 13 hit out at Pope John Paul II for decrying the
enactment of anti-conversion laws in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat and said the Pope "has no business" to
comment on it.
Criticising the Pope for his remarks on June 3 at Vatican city, Jayalalithaa told a press conference that
the Pope "has no business to comment on a law passed by democratically elected governments in our
country".
She said there was no threat to religion because of this enactment.
