Friday, June 13 2003 12:13 Hrs (IST)

Lucknow: The condition of the ailing chief of the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, Mahant Ram Chandra Paramahans Das, is stable but still critical, hospital sources said on June 13.

The Mahant had a good night's rest, but he was still not out of danger, sources said

Paramhans, who suffered a massive heart attack on June 12, in Ayodhya, was later flown to Lucknow and admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute.

The Mahant is under observation and the next 24 hours are critical for him, sources said.

VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) International President Ashok Singhal and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Swami Chinmayanand called on him at the hospital, the sources added.
