New Delhi: A Pakistani trade delegation, which was to visit India on June 28, has postponed its visit till
July 7, so that it can travel using the proposed Delhi-Lahore bus service.
The business delegation was earlier expected to visit India on June 28 and 29, but now it would arrive on
July 7 after the bus service is restored, FICCI officials said.
"We took a joint decision to delay the trip as travelling by bus will enable the delegation to bring in more
members and now the number is expected to be 70. The journey by bus will also be economical,
compared to the air travel via Dubai," they said.
The delegation would discuss macro level trade issues, including unofficial trade and infrastructure
problems while looking into reasons for low volumes of trade.
They would also make recommendations to the governments for creation of conducive policy
environment to promote trade.
A delegation from Pakistan is expected to be here on a two-day visit beginning June 19 to discuss the
restoration of bus service, which was stopped soon after the terrorist attack on Parliament in December
2001.
