Jaipur: Congress President, Sonia Gandhi had a rare sight of big cats at Ranthambhore National Park
where she stayed overnight after a day-long tour to famine-hit areas in Rajasthan, officials said on June
14.
A tigress and a cub were sighted near Naal Ghati when Gandhi's vehicle reached there June 13
evening, officials said.
The tigress stared at the VVIP for quite some time before disappearing into the forest, they said.
Gandhi visited some places inside the reserve on June 14 morning and saw a unique boundary wall
being constructed to girdle the park from invading cattle.
Gandhi was told that the 32.42 kilometre-long boundary wall, costing Rs 5.41 crore, was perhaps the
only of its kind in any tiger reserve in the country.
The wall is being constructed under the famine relief scheme.
She also visited Shilp Gram before setting on her second and last leg of tour to famine-hit areas, official
sources said.
