AP Cong MLA jailed for alleged kidnap, murder

Hyderabad: Congress legislator C K J Ayachandra Reddy, arrested in connecting with the kidnap and
murder of an engineering student on June 16, remanded to a two-week judicial custody by a court in
Chittoor town of Andhra Pradesh even as Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-sponsored bundh entered the
second day.
Reddy, alias C K Babu, representing Chittoor Assembly constituency, was send to a sub-jail at
Srikalahasthi town along with four of his followers linked to the murder of Y Ravishankar, a 20 year old
engineering student and son of local TDP leader Rajeswari Choudhary, police said.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed in Chittoor with tempers running high among ruling TDP who called for
a 'bundh' for the second day protesting the gruesome murder.
Recovery of the half burnt body of Ravishankar from the bushes near Palakur village, about 20 kms
from Chittoor town and the subsequent arrest of the Opposition MLA and his associates on June 15 had
created a sensation in the district.
Police claimed that the legislator had confessed to the crime. Along with Reddy, his bodyguard, driver
and two others were also arrested.
