Lao Prime Minister thanks India for assistance

New Delhi: Prime Minister, Lao Bounn Hang Vorachit on June 16 thanked India for the assistance and
support given to it in many areas, especially in the development of agriculture.
Talking to reporters after the ceremonial reception on the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan he said, "I
thank India for the immense assistance and support given for the development of my country."
He said his talk with Indian leaders including Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee would focus on
strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
Vorachit, who is on a weeklong visit to India was received by Prime Minister Vajpayee, External Affairs
Minister Yashwant Sinha and senior officials and diplomats.
During his visit, two sides will sign an agreement on cooperation in science and technology.
The visit is part of India’s continuing engagement with Laos following the visit of Vajpayee there in
November 2002.
The visiting dignitary is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Finance Minister Chansy
Phocikham, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Sience Saphangthong, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs
Phongsavath Boupha and Chief of the Cabinet of Prime Minister's office Sinlavong
Khouthayathoun.
Vorachit will visit Agra, Hyderabad and Mumbai to see the major centres of cultural, technological, and
commercial activities of India.
