New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi has assured the National Commission for Minorities
(NCM) that he will convene regular interactions with the members of Muslim community to allay their fear
of isolation," if any and also set-up 'Madrassa Board' for the modernisation of the minority-run
educational institutions.
Stating this, NCM chairman, Tarlochan Sanfh told reporters, "We felt that after the Assembly elections in
2002, the Muslim community was feeling a bit isolated. There is not a single representative of the
minority community in the ruling party.
“Therefore, during our meeting with Modi, we raised the issue and the Chief Minister has agreed to
convene regular meetings with members of the minority community," Singh said.
Singh, who headed a delegation of the Commission members to Gujarat last week, said the Chief
Minister has also assured the Commission that he will shortly set-up 'Madrassa Board' which will co-
ordinate and modernise the minority-run education institutions in the state.
He said the Commission also raised the issue of re-construction of the mosques and other religious
monuments, which were damaged during the riots. "The local municipal bodies have agreed to look into
the matter," Singh said.
