Advani retorts Musharraf's claim on infiltration
Tuesday, June 17 2003 22:32 Hrs (IST)
London: Taking strong exception to Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's claim that there has been
total peace on the line of control (LoC) and that India is "blackmailing" Islamabad on Kashmir, Deputy
Prime Minister L K Advani on June 17asserted that there was no let up in the infiltration and
terrorist violence in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ever-since he left on his US-UK visit on June 8, Advani said, he has been getting daily reports and
the "infiltration and terrorists violence is going on and our security forces have shot down infiltrators
thrice during the last eight-ten days."
When a correspondent pointed out that the Pakistani President has claimed that "the line of control is
quiet for a long time and that he (Musharraf) has accused your government of blackmail with regard to
Kashmir", Advani
said: "As far as the report of infiltration and terrorists violence is concerned, I say on the basis of facts.
"The infiltration from across the border is continuing and inside India incidents of violence have taken
place and recently members of the minority community in Kathua in Jammu have been killed."
Musharraf made the claim after holding talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
