President to meet Kanchi Acharya in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: President A P J Abdul Kalam would spend nearly 30 minutes with Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi during his visit to the mutt at Kanchipuram, nearly 70-kms from in Chennai, on June 19.

The President, who arrives in the city on June 18 on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu, would also inaugurate a postgraduate block and M E Programmes of Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya (Deemed University) at Enathur near Kancheepuram, the same day, an official press release said on June 17.

Earlier, Kalam's programme in the city would include interaction with students of the Ramakrishna Mission students' home, attending the 151st anniversary celebrations of the government museum, inaugurating "Peterson Cancer Centre" at Vijay Health Centre and addressing faculty of Anna University and its affiliated colleges at the University.

Later, the President would visit Sivananda orphanage at Kattankolathur, about 50 kms from Chennai.

After a brief stay at the Raj Bhavan on return to the city, the President would leave for Delhi by a special aircraft at 7.15 pm.
