Sydney: Cautious and methodical. That's what astrological convention says about those born under the sign Capricorns. However, insurance statistics indicate that they are Australia's worst drivers.

Figures released by insurance company AAMI revealed that drivers born between December 22 and January 19 were responsible for the highest share of road accidents, accounting for 8.8 percent of collisions, according to a report in 'The Age'.

Capricornians were closely followed by Geminians, who caused 8.55 percent of on-road collisions nationally. Next worse were Librans, causing 8.51 percent of crashes.

The best drivers throughout Australia were Sagittarians. Born between November 22 and December 21, Sagis caused just 7.89 percent of crashes nationally, the report said.

The best drivers in Victoria were Scorpions, whose reputations for passion and capriciousness were belied by statistics showing that those born between October 23 and November 21 were responsible for just 7.96 percent of Victorian accidents, it added.
