Four killed in J&K in two fierce encounters

Srinagar: Two security personnel and an equal number of militants, including a self-styled battalion
commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, were among four killed and two injured in two fierce encounters in
Kashmir valley since June 17, official sources said on June 18.
The Hizb battalion commander Ghulam Hassan Khan alias Moulvi Rashid was killed along with his close
associate Fayaz Ahmad Ganai in an encounter with Army during search operations at village Chilipora in
Pulwama district on June 17 night, they said.
Jafferson, a junior commissioned officer Rashtriya Rifles, was killed and two jawans injured in the
encounter, which lasted several hours, the sources said.
A BSF (Border Security Force) sub-inspector Bachan Singh, was killed when militants opened fire on a
search party at village Dalwan in Chrar-e-Sharief area of Badgam district in Central Kashmir on June 18,
they said.
Singh was leading one of the search parties, which had moved to the village to flush out hiding militants,
the sources said.
Militants opened fire on a police post at Achan in Pulwama district on June 17 night, but none was hurt in
the shootout, they said.
