London: Anti-Musharraf groups launched street protests as the Pakistani President arrived at 10
Downing Street to meet British Prime Minister Tony Blair on June 17.
The protests were co-organised by members belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan
Muslim League (Nawaz), Awami National Party, Peoples Youth Great Britain and Asif Ali Zardari Release
Committee.
The demonstrators shouted slogans like "No Musharraf No", "Go Musharraf Go". They also protested
against the Legal Framework Order (LFO) proposed by the government.
On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League – Qaid-e-Azam (PML-QA) organised a pro-Musharraf
demonstration in front of Prime Minister's house.
Both the groups stood a few metres apart, while passing harsh remarks against each other.
Speaking on the occasion, president of PML-QA (London) Asif Shehzad welcomed Musharraf and
said, "The visit of the President will highlight the issue of Kashmir and will definitely strengthen bilateral
trade ties."
He further said, "It is because of Musharraf's policies that terrorist activities have been cut down in the
country and this act has raised the honour of the country among international community."
