Pak reacts sharply to statements by Indian leaders
Thursday, June 19 2003 10:29 Hrs (IST)

Islamabad: Islamabad on June 18 night reacted sharply to statements by Indian leaders over the "slanted reporting" of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's remarks.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has noted with regret the recent statements by the Indian leadership and Ministry of External Affairs, government of India, over the slanted reporting of the remarks made by the President of Pakistan," an official statement said.

Musharraf in a recent interview to news channel 'NDTV 24x7' had indicated that he does not rule out yet another Kargil type intrusion.

Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, reacting to the Pakistan President's comments, on June 18 said at a public rally in Madhya Pradesh, "Musharraf has reminded us of Kargil, but he should remember Pak controversy generated by the Indian media," the statement said the controversy should have ended after the clarification by the President of Pakistan that he was being quoted incorrectly and out of context by the Indian media."
