Surat: Surendra Shetty, father of actress Shilpa Shetty, allegedly involved in a case of extortion, surrendered to Surat police on June 20 morning.

Shetty surrendered at Umra police station, where a complaint has been lodged against him, his wife and two gangsters for allegedly extorting Rs 80 lakh, payable to his daughter by Pankaj Agarwal, the owner of Praful sarees, for appearing in an advertisement film.

Police claim to possess tape recorded telephonic talk between Shilpa's parents and Agarwal, which allegedly reveal that the latter was threatened.
