Ultras attack CRPF post in Manipur, 3 CRPF men hurt

Imphal: Three Central reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured when armed militants
attacked a CRPF post at Saikot area in Manipur's Churachandpur district late on June 19 night, official
sources said.
Heavily armed insurgents surrounded the post at hilly Saikot area, 75 km from Imphal, at 11.50 pm (IST)
on June 19 night and opened fire, injuring three CRPF personnel.
The CRPF personnel belonging to the 14th battalion returned the fire, but casualty on the side of the
insurgents was not known.
The insurgents used rocket launchers and powerful grenades in the attack, which lasted three hours.
The identity of the insurgents was not yet established although ultras of separatist United National
Liberation Front (UNLF) were active in the area, the sources said.
The condition of the injured CRPF personnel was stated to be out of danger, the sources said.
Security reinforcements have rushed to the spot.
Meanwhile, several rounds of gunshots were heard in the border town of Moreh, the sources said.
Unconfirmed reports said sounds of firing were also heard in interior Leimatak, Moirang Khunou and
Khongjom areas of the state.
