AIMPLB to meet on July 6; rules out compromise

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) working committee is likely to meet in
Lucknow on July 6 to discuss Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra
Saraswati's fresh formula aimed at resolving the vexed Ayodhya issue even as its members ruled out
any compromise.
The members also decided to move an application before the Liberhan Commission seeking former
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh's examination after his allegation that the Babri Masjid had
been demolished under the direction of
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and other top Sangh Parivar
Leaders who were "part of a conspiracy".
"It is a Wakf land and neither any dealing can take place nor the land can be given to Anyone," AIMPLB
Convenor S Q R Ilyaas told reporters after a marathon meeting of the Board members here to discuss
the recent develpments on the issue.
Asserting that in the absence of any new decision, the Board stood by its past resolution on Ayodhya
embroglio to abide by the Court verdict.
In Lucknow, AIMPLB Chairman Rabey Hasni Nadvi said, he has convened a meeting of Working
Committee which is likely to take place on July 6 to discuss the Seer's fresh proposals contents of which
he declined to disclose.
Nadvi said he had a cursory look at the Hindu Pontiff's letter written in English which
contained "whatever the Shankaracharya had in mind for resolving the deadlock".
"Shankaracharya is a great religious personality. He wants the Hindus and Muslims to live in peace. His
proposals reflect his sincere efforts (to resovle the issue). May be a
solution to the dispute can befound", he said.
Claiming that the recent findings of the ASI excavations were "in their favour", the AIMPLB members
reiterated their decision of not doing any "deal or not giving the Wakf land" to anyone and abide by the
Court order.
In the absence of any new decision, the Board stands by its past resolutions, Board Convener S Q R
Ilyaas said.
Asked if the Board was involved in the "bargaining" with the Centre as some reports suggested,
Mauchala said "there is none so ever."
He also ruled out any "differences" among the Board members and said all the Members were
unanimous on the issue.
Asked when the Board will decide on the proposal sent by Shankaracharya to resolve the vexed issue of
Ayodhya, Mauchala said the Chairman along with Working Committee will decide on it.
Among others the meeting wasattended by AIMPLB members - Zafaryab Jilani, Maulana Sajjad Nomani
and Maulana Nizamuddin.
