Ahmedabad: Three Malaysians have been arrested and three Africans detained for interrogation for
allegedly stealing cheques and attempting to encash them at various banks in the district, according to
Kutch police.
District Superintendent of police Subhash Trivedi told reporters on June 24 that the Malaysians,
including two women, and the Africans, were being interrogated in the same case.
He said some of them also possessed fake passports.
All the six were arrested in a pre-dawn operation from a hotel in nearby Gandhidham town by the district
police following 'prohibitory orders' that were issued against their exit from the state on June 23.
As per preliminary information they were accused of stealing several travellers and regular cheques and
had attempted to encash it in the Development Credit Bank and
State Bank of India, Trivedi said.
