Karachi: Pakistani authorities claim to have rounded up six suspects of al-Qaida in Karachi. In a separate operation, police arrested five local Islamic militants from Multan. Among them were two proclaimed offenders of banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

"In the wee hours of Monday (June24), the law enforcing agencies raided two bungalows in Defence Housing Society in Karachi and arrested six militants, all foreign suspects of al-Qaida, including two very close comrades of their chief Osama bin Laden," an official source revealed to NNI news agency.

From the possession of al-Qaida suspects, the raiding parties confiscated some sensitive documents, computer disks and other material.
