Advani visits Rohtak jail evoking emergency memories

Rohtak: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani visited the local jail on June 26 where he was confined during his imprisonment following the imposition of emergency in 1975.

Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala accompanied Advani to the jail where he was lodged from July 18, 1975 to September 22, 1975.

The Deputy Prime Minister spent about an hour inside the jail, official sources said, adding the local media was not allowed to cover his visit, however, he was accompanied by a team of people of electronic news channels from Delhi.

Earlier, Advani was received by Chautala and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, including state secretary Pradeep Jain at the Faculty House of the Maharishi Dayanand University .
