3 jawans killed in Kashmir mishap, 8 injured

Jammu: Three security personnel, including a police head constable, were killed and eight injured in two
separate mishaps in Doda and Udhampur districts of Jammu division, official sources said on June 26.
A head constable of police was killed and seven other police personnel were injured when the vehicle
they were travelling turned turtle at Sher-i-Kashmir police academy in Udhampur on June 25 on the eve
of president A P J Abdul Kalam's visit to the academy.
The accident was caused due to failure of brakes, they said, adding that the deceased and the injured
were slated to participate in a function during President's visit on June 26.
All the injured, were rushed to district hospital at Udhampur for treatment.
In another incident, a vehicle of security forces carrying seven people was on its way from Doda to
Jammu on June 25 when a pine tree crushed into it at Chanderkote killing two of them and injuring one,
they said, adding the
vehicle was also damaged in the accident.
The injured jawan was later shifted to a hospital the sources said, adding four of them escaped unhurt.
